Lienz is one of the sunniest towns in Austria. Its sheltered valley setting means calm air and many flyable days from spring to autumn.
You reach the base station within minutes of the centre. Two home mountains, Zettersfeld and Hochstein, give us the right option for the wind and weather of the day.
Above town the view opens onto the Lienz Dolomites, Lake Tristach and, on a clear day, all the way to the Grossglockner. A panorama few other places can match.

Zettersfeld lies on the sunny northern slope above Lienz. The launch is wide and calm, ideal for your first flight.

Flight along the rock face
Hochstein sits right above the town centre, the home mountain of Lienz. The flight runs close along the Dolomite rock faces.
A little more dramatic than Zettersfeld, with a direct view down onto the old town and the main square of Lienz.

Reach Lienz by train to Lienz station or by car via the Felbertauern road and the Puster Valley. Parking is available at both cable cars.

Both launch sites are on the edge of Lienz. From the main square you reach the base station within minutes by car. The cable car then takes us up to the launch.
We fly from spring to late autumn. Thanks to its sheltered valley, Lienz has many calm, sunny days. In summer we often launch in the morning before the wind picks up.
Weather comes first. If the agreed day doesn't work, we simply move to a new date. That's why we confirm the flight only one or two days ahead by phone or WhatsApp.
The classic flight over Lienz lasts around 20 to 30 minutes in the air. For longer, book the thermal flight with an hour or more. Allow about two hours including the ride up and the briefing.
