Tandem paragliding from Hochstein
The Hochstein is the second local mountain high above Lienz, at around 2,000 m. It is at its most beautiful early in the morning: a breakfast flight where we launch east, straight into the sunrise.
A state-certified tandem pilot from our East Tyrol team flies the wing. You need no experience and no equipment. A few steps across the herb meadow and you are flying over the Lienz valley floor.

From the launch at around 2,000 m the view opens over the whole Lienz valley floor, Lake Tristach and the Lienz Dolomites. In thermals you climb high above Hochstein with a 360-degree panorama into the Puster and Isel valleys.
From the car park an easy larch-forest path leads to the launch, opening up with a breathtaking view into the valley. If there is time, stop at the rustic Hochstein hut.
We fly two options from Hochstein. We agree which one suits you beforehand. The launch faces east; we land on the Lienz valley floor.

A few quick steps across the herb meadow, then the wing lifts off. We fly towards the Rauchkofel to Lake Tristach and in a loop over Lienz.
We land gently at the landing site on the Lienz valley floor. From there we bring you back to the starting point.
You get the exact meeting point for the drive up to Hochstein with the booking confirmation, matched to the weather on the day. The ascent is by taxi or shuttle via the Hochstein road (open from 1 May).
You reach Lienz by train to Lienz station or by car via the Felbertauern road and the Puster valley.

The Hochstein road is open from 1 May after the winter closure. Before that we fly from Zettersfeld. We agree the right launch site with you depending on date and weather.
Without thermals around 20 to 30 minutes in the air. In thermals we stay up longer and climb high above Hochstein. With the ascent and briefing, plan for about two hours in total.
Weather comes first. If it doesn't fit on the agreed day, we reschedule without fuss. That's why we only fix the flight one or two days ahead by phone or WhatsApp.
